Make sure to follow me on Instagram: @decent_garage. I do a lot more how to content there. I figured out the tach/ ac issue today and explained everything over on Instagram 👍
Towed our 24' toy hauler from California to Kentucky for a dog show with my '92 D250 5spd years ago and got 14.38 over 4,321 miles. Wasnt in any particular hurry and did 55-65MPH the entire way.
Thanks for the haul! Glad you made it back safe and with no major issues. Ac clutch and tach both close together would not surprise me to be a wire issue.
I have a hitch extension that puts the front of the trailer back another 18”. It saves my camper from damage… but otherwise, same setup: Crewcab, CTD, Lance camper, 20’ trailer + 4’ tongue…
Cool trip. Love the ghetto ac unit, if it works and keeps the pup cool it’s not stupid. BTW love that your wife joined you on the road-trip, we need to see more of her in the videos. Love the tattoos
Enjoyed the video. We did a 4,500 mile round trip from california to wisconsin in June in my 93 Club Cab with a 91 Lance cabover camper. No problems with the truck and it's not as good condition as yours. I really need a better transmission, lots of power loss and heat. Worst mileage was about 10.5 and best about 13.5. I had to watch temps; EGT, coolant and transmission, heading west on 90 in West River South Dakota. Had a heck of a head wind and there's more uphill than you would think, it ain't flat. Our second to last stop was at East Canyon State Park in Utah. You probably missed my smoke signal as I passed through the Salt Lake Area!
Awesome road trip brother. Love the footage. And congrats on your dyno run. I have another source, but no spoilers here. Keep up the hard work, and Godspeed.
Your truck is awesome 😎 I have a 1990 Cummins w250. Was wondering 💭 how the mileage has been affected with the “road to 600” progress? Would like more power but don’t want to affect the mileage much.
Mileage has still been pretty good. The biggest thing affecting the mileage is the 6x16 injectors. They are huge and do not help but with 6x13 I can still get 16-17 mph
Awesome video I hope I’ll be at the event next year! And Clessie is a slick name for your Aussie haha I see what you did there.. I’ve got an aussie too
I don't have the exact same camp shower but I have been using one very similar regularly for several years. It's fantastic! BTW: I noticed you don't have a link to purchase the camp shower. Now, back to the video.

@@decentgarage the puddle gets ahead of the arc which causes a lack of penetration. mig welding uphill is actually pretty easy. i recommend checking out Welding Tips and Tricks here on youtube. Jody is a wealth of knowledge and does an amazing job at explaining deferent welding processes and uses a lot of the commo welding machines on the maket.

when I hit strong headwinds, I back off to 55 mph, does wonderful for cooling things down, and doubles the MPG from 65 down to 55

It was great to finally meet you Brian. I got the issue figured out today. The CPS wire got chafed against a pulley. New CPS and she's good to go

I bought an 18" one for this trip but felt it was too long. I'll probably get a 12" extension
Heck yeah. Cummins 👍🇺🇸💪🏻
Thanks Tim. Looking forwards to the Dyno Video

She's actually the one who convinced me to go on the trip haha
I go down to Utah and take I-80 every time I cross the rockies. Just came out that way at the end of June from Portland Oregon area.
You should drive the 70 between i15 and Denver. It's incredible. We came home on the 70.

Nice video Tim. Glad you and your wife had a good time.
Always love a good road trip in the 1st gen! Had a good laugh at that portable AC...if it works it's not stupid! 😂
It worked great but it went throw ice like no other. We had to fill it up every fuel stop 🤣

I was thrilled with the results!
What was the event? Is it a diesel event or all 1st Gen trucks? Enjoyed the video.
Yep it was an event for VE pump 12 valves which are 1st gens 👍
Good stuff Tim
Decent garage "Hot Shot Service"!! Hot coolant temps and hot AC....Check your fan clutch.

Two weeks from now the video will be ready 👍
Oh damn, I missed this and I live in Columbus. Been watching a lot of your videos lately as I recently picked up a 6BT for a swap into a land cruiser.

The dyno should be mine cause my name is on it lol

Looks like a 30 year old truck. ??
Why does the title say 40
1985, almost 40

downhill mig welds are probably the least trusted welds next to mig welds full of porosity.
Tell me more. I'm just learning. Does it just not allow enough heat and causes poor penetration?
